A high torque motor drives the 18:1 steel gearset, allowing for stronger springs to be installed and further improving trigger response. To add a side of realism to the firing experience, the L85A3 also boasts an electric blowback system, cycling the mock bolt carrier back and forth with each shot and drowning out the gearbox report with a violent "clack-clack-clack".
