Marushin Baby Nambu Model Gun (Onshi Engraving/ Gold Plated)
About Real Nambu pistol The Nambu pistol is a series of semi-automatic handguns designed by Kijiro Nambu for the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy from the early 1900s through World War II, intended to replace the Type 26 revolver. Influenced by European designs like the Mauser C96, they were used in the Second Sino-Japanese War and the Pacific Theater, mainly by officers as status symbols. About 400,000 were produced, far fewer than the U.S. M1911. The Type A, or "Grandpa Nambu," introduced in 1902, used an 8x22mm Nambu cartridge, held eight rounds, and had a 5.5-inch barrel. Never officially adopted, it was exported to China and Siam. The Type B, or "Baby Nambu," from 1903, was a compact officer's pistol in 7x20mm Nambu with a 3.3-inch barrel and seven-round magazine, with only ~6,500 made due to high costs. The Type 14, introduced in 1925, was the standard Army sidearm, chambered in 8x22mm with an eight-round magazine and 4.6-inch barrel; ~400,000 were made, though late-war quality dropped. The Type 94, from 1934, was for tank crews and pilots, with a six-round magazine and 3.9-inch barrel, but its flawed design, including an external sear bar that could cause accidental firing, made it one of the worst military pistols. All Nambus used a recoil-operated, locked-breech system, but the 8x22mm cartridge was underpowered compared to 9x19mm Parabellum or .45 ACP. Issues included reloading difficulties, a two-hand safety lever, firing pin breakages, and poor ergonomics. Despite this, they were prestige items and saw action in major campaigns. Post-WWII, many became collector's items. Production ended in 1945, and U.S.-supplied M1911s replaced them. Ammunition is now rare and expensive.
